The myth that women shouldn’t lift heavy is only perpetuated by women who fear hard work and men who fear strong women.
it has officially been one year since i decided to get healthy and lose weight! i started counting calories using myfitnesspal and running using the couch to 5k app!
it hasn’t always been easy and now it’s more about learning to maintain my weight and improve my running. i’m so happy to see how far i’ve come and i truly am proud of myself.
when i started i could hardly even run for 1 minute straight without being out of breath, now i can run an 8k and feel awesome about it afterwards! anything really is possible if you have dedication and motivation :)
before - march 2012 -186.5

(i’m 5’4” by the way)
A youtube video everyone who is calorie-conscious should watch. This video amazes me. Please watch!
this is unreal!! our food industry really needs to be reformed.
For those of you who aren’t losing what you “should” be.
My boyfriend started dating me when I weighed over 200 pounds and wore a size 16… He has always thought I’ve been beautiful, but he was a large part of what motivated me to get my fitness in check. He is an AMAZING guy and deserved a gorgeous piece of arm candy.
Goes to that that when you love someone for WHO THEY ARE and not how they look in a bikini… you may just be their motivation to get in shape so you can show them off ;)
Dying from adorableness omg
I love this. Really hits home.
DAMN you’re a babe though
TOGA! TOGA! TOGA!
I hate all those “no excuses” posts.
Sometimes there are legitimate excuses to not be a mega fitness wizard. Like injuries, or illnesses, or working 3 jobs, or JUST NOT FEELING LIKE WORKING OUT THAT DAY (or ever if that’s your thing).
And that is okay, because the world does not end if you skip…
Protein shakes are great if you want to build muscle! If you’re building muscle it’s important to not have a caloric deficit, or at least a large one, so that the body can process what you have consumed and create muscle. If you have a caloric deficit your body is going to want to expel fat more than it is going to build muscle however both CAN happen. It’s about finding a balance that’s right for you. As for workouts you will want to do weighted exercises that activate the muscles in your rump. If you go to my workouts tag you should find some that target the butt well! But if we are generalizing it, squats, forward lunges, and side lunges really help.
Shadow boxing with dumb bells, probably my favourite workout. Good cardio, good mild strength training (:
Things not to worry about:
- The amount of sugar in fruit
- Eating too many carbs
- Eating too much fat
- The yolks of eggs
- Getting bulky
- The fact that you weigh 5lbs more in the evening than you do in the morning
- The cupcake you ate last tuesday
- The circumference of your thighs
….Summer is coming
This is an awesome before and after. So inspirational!
Great job! Also, look at those abs. Get it, girl!
WOW! Amazing progress!
